Biography

Angel Sánchez Enríquez was born in Mexico City in 1971. He graduated from the Superior School of Music which belongs to the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance. He also studied piano with Yulia Vischnevetskaia, violin with Guela Dubrova.

 

As a composer and orchestrator he studied with Héctor Quintanar, Carlos Chavez Pupil at the Superior School of Music in Mexico City, and graduated with a Posgraduate Diploma at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe in Sofia, Bulgaria (2022), studied Film Scoring with Andy Hill, former President of the Music Department at Disney, orchestration with Ph.D. Norman Ludwing, professor at UCLA University, and mixing and editing with Blad Boyadjiev, a studio engineer with over 600 International movie credits, including films by Disney, Universal, and Warner Bros. He has taken masterclasses with the most prominent Hollywood composers such as Danny Elfman, Christopher Young, David Newman, and with Jan Pfitzer in composition for video games.

 

As a conductor Sánchez has a master degree from La Universidad La Rioja, specialized in the Phenomenology of Music by Sergei Celibidache under the tutelage of the masters Pascual Osa Roberto Montenegro and in choirs the master Miguel Ángel Cañamero. Versatility in different types of leadership. He has been Associate conductor since 1997 for several Broadway musicals such as Beauty and the Beast by Disney (1997), The Phantom of the Opera (2000) by Lloyd Weber, and Les Misérables (2005) by Cameron Mackintosh. He was the musical Director in Fiddler on the Roof (2006) with the brass section of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra under the supervision of Kristen Blodgette.

 

He currently conducts symphonic orchestras and operas in Mexico and Spain. In 2019 he recorded his Op. 1 “Á Laura“ for orchestra, along with PARMA Recordings LLC and The Athens Philharmonia, describing his work and the life of his beloved Laura in music: “this music is aimed at understanding without words the most delicate nuances of feelings in a universal language.” (Nanova records). His work Op. 2 Vercingétorix was selected to be performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. This work has a strong character, describing in music a historical event with traditional Celtic music. Recently he has composed his Violin Concerto Op. 3 Jeanne d’Arc which narrates the life of the Maiden of Orléans.

Immer focusiert auf die Servant-Leadership (Bedienungsleitung), ein neues Konzept, um die Lesitung der Musiker und ihre Probenarbeit auszubauen. Für mich, der Mensch hinter dem Instrument ist am wichtigsten, wenn man Musik macht, in dem noch mehr Verantwortung  für Entscheidungsfähigkeit und Kompromisse mit der Musik  hervorruft wird. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass verlangende Musik erfordert stärkeres Engagement und der Dirigent, ist hier ein Leiter, eine Erleichterung, damit die Musiker selbst ihren eigenen Weg  finden können.
